My Crazy Weekend....End Of January Already ???

End of January already?? I just want to update all my blogger friends. We are now on the plus side with our apartment complex. I love tax refund time. We have been having computer issues as of late. Wifi from our complex is driving me bonkers. We now have 3 working lap tops and a borrowed desk top. Sometimes we can get a signal to all sometimes not.

4 of my family have been sick with bronchitis, and on meds. Well after 3 weeks I too maybe getting it. Our being sick is nothing compared to my friend Stephen. Everyone of his friends, including myself have been praying for him, his wife and Little Bit. Duke and Senior, Thanks for keeping all of us updated.

One thing I learned this weekend, don't save your passwords on your computer without writing them down someplace else. I have some 5 different email addresses and I saved but never wrote them down. So now If I don't use a specific computer to post here, I have to wait as someone else is on that laptop.

I am finding it is easy to add items to prep storage with out thinking about it, and I don't have to blow a budget. We needed bath soap, so I bought 2 3pk of Dial, I am now buying 1 or 2 additional items every few days.  I will make a separate posting later this week.

Have a good week everyone and keep our friends and family in our daily prayers.

The Book I Bought

I went to Books A Million near by. Not a large choice of Survivor-Prep Books. They had I believe all of Ayn Rand's books. I was going to get two books but settled on Capt. Rawles. Still having some computer issues, working to resolve. Have a good weekend all.

What Books Would You Suggest??

Good day fellow bloggers, I am looking for some books to read. I know this has been asked by many of us before, but hey this is America we we need to have things repeated over and over again. I did pick up this morning on Kindle  "Anthem, By Ayn Rand "  I hope to start reading later today. Oh I forgot It was FREE. Not sure if you have read this yet.

Like some fellow bloggers I too am not feeling well today. But my problem is from my old OJI injury. Right foot/knee/ and back. I did too much walking yesterday, and I am paying for it today. last night I was limping and my kids wanted me not to do anything around the house. Well being suborn has I am, I still did things on my own. I will check back later this afternoon or early evening for your replies.

Have a good day everyone. Stay Safe, Stay Alert, Stay Healthy but most of all, Keep Prepping.

Now Its Florida's Turn....

All eyes and ears are again focused on Florida. Hey world look at us, put us under the microscope. OK Florida, everyone drop your pants, bend over, grab your ankles, and hold on. It will only hurt for a week. Come on take it like the States of IOWA, NEW HAMPSHIRE, and SOUTH CAROLINA before you. It only hurts for a little while.

I am not talking about the guys running for office on both sides of the aisle. No my friends I am talking about MAIN STREAM MEDIA. Lets see how they can screw the facts around, and make everything thing look so wonderful. remember to put on those rose colored glasses. My words of advice to the other States, just wait your next.

Oh have a nice day. My word of the day....Vaseline.

Lazy Sunday

Well it looks like I'm going to take a lazy Sunday to catch up on some reading. I have Kindle on my laptop and I have 2 or 3 books going at the same time, so I need to finish up one or two. I am reading The Walk by Lee Goldberg. It's a story about a guy who survived an earthquake in LA, and wants to find his out if wife is safe at home. The only way he can get home is to walk.

Another book is The Rough Riders by Teddy Roosevelt (President). It talks about forming of the Rough Riders and their mission in San Juan. One only chapter into it. I have read Common Sense by Thomas Paine, and Living off the Grid by David Black. I will be buying several hard copy books in the next few weeks. I have a few ideas mostly Survival/Prep books so I can pass them to the kids to read. Not sure if i can get any of then or the wife to read any, but it never hurts to try.

Have a great day, and an even better week. Stay safe, Keep Alert, (OPSEC) and Keep Prepping.

What Survival Means

S Size Up The Situation (surroundings, physical condition, equipment, & supplies)
U  Use All Your Sensuous, undue haste makes waste
R  Remember Where You Are
V Vanquish Your Fear and Panic
I   Improvise
V  Value Living
A  Act Like The Natives
L  Live By Your Wits, But For Now, Learn Basic Skills

I don't remember where I came across this, but I think this should become everyone's motto. Every day, in every way, I think about how our lives are now, and what they will be like in the future. You never know when the world as we know it will change. In fact our world is changing this very second. Things happen a World away, the Country's around us, the States, County's, & Cities all across our land.

Like Obi-Won Kenobi said in Star Wars, "I seance a disturbance in the force" We as preppers need to use the Force to our advantage.

Old Debt Vs New Debt

Remember he was elected because so many wanted "Change'". Some people will never learn. Why is he smiling? Cause he screwed us.

Please don't forget year from today, January 20th, 2013, Obama will be out of office. Our new President will be sworn into office. The count down begins.

Are You Paying Attention ???

Well are you truly paying attention??? Every morning after I wake up, (have some coffee and do some reading to get my mind in touch with reality)  I think about what I want to post about. While I am not a writer, I like to post my opinion on what is taking place in our country, or opinion of what I have read.  After reading Duke's posts about Martial Law over at Down Range Report and many other great blogs, You have to stop, think about what your reading, let it sink in, if necessary reread what they are saying, what is being said. Paying Attention

Bottom line are you really paying attention ?? This topic came to me last night while my whole family was out for dinner to celebrate a birthday. My oldest son was asking me about the internet black out yesterday. I replied to him, and we continued talking about it. He was texting at the same time, I knew he was not paying attention. He stopped looked up at me and said, What??.  Hello, McFly?? It kind of pissed me off. My wife will do almost the same thing. She will come up to me ask a question while I am replying, she walks away.

Paying Attention, Two words that are very important in life. Cause of car accident??, Not paying attention. Cause of that ship accident over in Italy?? I say again, NOT PAYING ATTENTION. One thing I like to do is while giving an answer, change the topic reply. Example talking about say the coming election, suddenly say something like "Mom is pregnant again" That will stop them dead in their tracks. If I see my family or anyone else is not paying attention I stop talking.

The IRS sent my Tax Return back! AGAIN!!!

I guess it was because of my response to the item: "List all dependents"
12 million illegal immigrants;
3 million crack heads;
42 million unemployable people on food stamps,
2 million people in over 243 prisons;
Half of Mexico; and
535 fools in the U.S. House and Senate.

Apparently, this was NOT an acceptable answer!

Anyone can copy this to use, enjoy and keep prepping.

Grocery Shopping For A Month At One Time

We go grocery shopping once a month, well we try to anyway. We buy I would say 75% of what we eat once a month. Since we don't have a car, we depend on getting a ride to Walmart to save money. We have a Publix within walking distance but their prices are a little higher.
So here are some prices we paid a week ago...1/7/12
Bananas $0.54 lb,
GV Sweetener (blue) 7.1 oz  $2.14,
Tuna Helper $1.68,
GV Tuna (large can) $1.98,
15 lbs potatoes $6.97,
Fresh Chicken Breast $1.97 lb,
Ground Beef 5 lbs $11.48   3 lbs $7.98 (these are in a tube)
Bread crumbs 15oz $1.08
GV sugar free drink mix (makes 10 qt) $1.98,
GV white bread 1 1/2lb loaf $1.00,
GV peanut butter 40 oz $5.24 (first time over $5.00),
GV white rice 28oz box $2.48
Honey crisp apples $2.21 lb (only bought 4)
Maxwellhouse Coffee $8.98 2lbs,
Pepsi Cube 24 cans $6.98
GV is Great Value Walmart in house brand

Before some of you get upset at the prices we pay for say meat, we live in the city in an apartment. We can't raise chickens, pigs, goats, etc. All we can raise is children.  The same loaf of bread at Publix is $1.39, MWH coffee is higher by like $2 or 3.00 a can. Milk is about the same $3.85 gallon. A 2 lt of Pepsi or Coke is $1.89 at Publix and $1.28 at WM. While produce at WM is cheaper it is sometimes not ripe, while Publix is almost over ripe. T.P. is another item we watch the price. Publix brand recycled paper T.P is $2.39 a double 4pk, Bought Cottenelle double roll 4pk on sale at CVS 2 for $6.00. I was at CVS getting meds, and did not want to make another stop.

I would like to thank Johnnyb over atThe Simple Life for giving me the idea to post these prices. He posted on his blog so I remembered that I want to share our prices before we went shopping.

Fellow Bloggers

When I saw this photo it reminded me of Duke over at Down Range Report and his Not Good postings. This truck driver in Minnesota had a bad morning. This happened off of I-94 about 5 miles from my old homestead, before we moved to Florida.

My friend Coffee With The Hermit He always has a pot of coffee going and has posts with very good words of wisdom so early in the morning. I hope this is enough coffee for all of us.
When I saw this, I thought of Stephen over at Standing Outside Looking In  Stephen has a busy life and a wonderful granddaughter Little Bit, who herself has words of wisdom. He always has great stories to share.

A New Way To Park Your Car

This aircraft carrier is the world’s most expensive parking lot....GO NAVY!!!

What you're looking at is the deck of the U.S.S. Ronald Reagan covered in the vehicles of Navy Sailors heading to Naval Base Kitsap in Bremerton, Washington. At a cost of about $4.5 billion this is probably the world's most expensive parking lot.

It may seem phenomenal, but this is actually a common occurrence for the Navy and a lot cheaper and easier than transporting the vehicles almost any other way. The weight of one E-2C Hawkeye is approximately 43,000 pounds, or about 12 cars, and a Nimitz-class carrier usually carries four of those.

But more to the point, this does save the U.S. Navy money. First, the only other way to get vehicles owned by Navy sailors to their final destinations is to put them in another ship. Second, if they didn't send soldiers' vehicles they'd have to pay for transportation at the final destination. Both of which would absolutely would cost more money.

The U.S.S. Ronald recently served in Asia and was en route to Kitsap for upgrades and repairs.

Some folks don't like cut and paste stories, but this was one I couldn't pass up. I got up this morning put my coffee on, sat down at the laptop and said what can I post this morning. When I saw this story, I knew this was going to be my post. This is for SENIOR CHIEF and Jacked Up Glock Mom over at Tales From The Clothesline If you don't know them swing over and check them out they are good folks.

My page views are at 6,000. Thanks you to all who stop by. To my many blogger friends, stay warm, if you had snow and ice, and drive safely. Have a good weekend, and a great week. Edited to correct mis spellings

For the Government's own safety and in the name of National Security. I saw this story yesterday afternoon on FOX News channel. I thought someone would pick up on this but I guess we all missed it.

Well its that time of year that we all hate, TAX TIME. Or as we call it late Christmas. We get a good refund every year, have since we have started having kids. We always get a jump every year. I don't wait for my W-2. So as of this past Monday one tax refund has been e-filed. The IRS started to take e-files on Jan. 5th. They start to run the e-filed returns on Jan. 17th. We hope to have our refund by months end. This will help get caught up on some bills, and give us breathing room.

We also so let the kids buy 1 gift. Last year we bought 3 ipods for the 3 youngest. This year, new charging cords and clothes. 3 new laptop batteries and 2 laptops to a repair shop for tune ups.  I wish I could get a car but that will have to wait for my SSDI when that comes through.  I hope to get stocked up on prep supplies. Have a good day.

City Buses, Its not just a ride....

Its an adventure....So yesterday (Tuesday) I went with my wife and youngest daughter to a orthodontist appointment. Sounds simple?? Yea right. We get to the bus stop by our place and a gentlemen comes walking along, talking I thought on a cell phone. Well he was talking but he had no cell phone, he was just talking out loud to himself. OK, why do I have a feeling this is going to be a weird day.

We get on the bus and I have my family sit by the back exit. A few stops down the road a another fellow gets on the bus with his power scooter. He drives on the bus then gets off his scooter and moves it around to get it tied down. Mr Talkstohimslef asks if he really needs that. His reply "Well if I don't want to be in pain I use it." So these 2 and a lady start talking about this that and everything else. Did I say we are in the mid back of bus they are in the front. Even so we can hear everything.

Then one says "Whats Blue Ray?" SO I start to snicker and the wife says "What so funny?" I tell her and she rolls her eyes. We get down to the transfer station and we all get off. Mr Scooter has gotten off a little earlier.
Told the wife he looks like he needs that, more like so does not have to walk, better then a bike. We get on the other bus and it so quite and nice. We get to where we need to get off for the Ortho. Appointment. We are now half hour south of where we live. We lived nearby here 4 years ago, but the drive was too far, and gas was near $5.00 gallon. (2008).

We spend 10 min walking around looking of the office. Can't find it. Call the Ortho Office to see where they are. The Lady on the phone says XXXX Lee Vista Road. "Say What" she reply's again with the same answer.
"Correct me if I am wrong, But is that out by the International Airport?" "Why yes" "Well then, I tell her I guess we won't make it today you see we are at this location." "Oh we only go there once a month" So we are now a good hour south of where we are not. It would take 4 buses going back to our home and then out to the Ortho office. Like 3 or 4 hours by bus.

So we decided to pick up a few items at Walmart since we are near by. The bus back to the mall runs once an hour. Bus arrives and we get on, and so does about another 50 to 60 people. Jammed full, few get off, many get on. We get to the transfer station and finally get home. Go online looking at bus schedule so we can get to appointment on Wednesday (today). Guess what? We will have to take 3 buses and walk mile and a half to their office, and do the same going home. Appointment is at 9am. we wont get in the area until 10Am with the current bus schedule.

I told the wife that there is no way on this earth that me (with my bad foot, knee, and back pain) will ever walk that far ever again. So after more research we found a different Ortho office to visit next week.. Turns out we were maybe 300 feet from them today. The main problem we had today was NO CAR, Ok I can handle the idiots on the bus. But when you go make an appointment and the address given is here and their office is not at said location, Then we have a problem. The medical insurance web site listed only one office, the one we went to today. Did not list the one by the airport.(Their main office)

Riding the bus is like hearing everyone's problem that you don't want to know about., and hearing their phone calls. One time we had to listen to a guy talk about his conquests of easy females, with my 13 yr old daughter nearby. OH did I give him a look. Finally he shut up.

Down on my knees in prayer, "Oh Lord God in haven, please give us guidance and wisdom as we try and find a car for us. These last 3 years without any car has been hard. But a learning lesson. I ask this is Jesus name, Amen"  Have a good day all.

Alaska town buried in snow gets help digging out

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (Reuters) - National Guardsman were helping residents of the Prince William Sound fishing town of Cordova dig out on Monday following weeks of storms that have left parts of the town buried in more than 10 feet of snow. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/nationworld/sns-rt-us-alaska-snow-towntre8082az-20120109,0,3980343.story

If your not a prepper in Alaska you better have your head checked out to see if you have any brains left. I pray that any bloggers we all know in Alaska are OK. On a another note the U.S. Coast  Guard has sent its ice breaker to help get a tanker to Nome so they don't run out of fuel. Nome was to get a barge last fall, but due to a winter storm it did not arrive and had to turn back. http://www.uscg.mil/pacarea/cgcHealy/

Well we all know why most of the U.S. has no snow, Alaska has it all.

Coins... auction and collection theft

I know that many people don't like cut and paste stories but these are must see stories. Some theft's steal a coin collection, worth thousands of dollars, and run them through COINSTAR a lose change collecting machine and get $450.00. The these rocket jockeys, take the 500 silver quarters rejected to the bank and cash them in. Turns out victim's own son did this, the collection was his inheritance after his dad passed away.  Here is link....

In another story we had a coin show here in Orlando and someone bought a rare penny from back in colonial times for $1 million dollars. Here is link to that story....

I hope everyone has a great week, and thanks to all of you who visit. I now have over 4,600 page views.

I would like to thank Mystic Mud for becoming an adviser to the Bunker, or as most call it the follow button. Thank you dear lady, I enjoy your family's adventurers and can't wait to see what stories you post next.

I just want to thank everyone who has given me words of support, and prayers the last couple of months. I feel humbled that people I have not met and don't know very well, would take the time to give words of encouragement. I don't know what else to say, as I am kind of speechless. I will always think of each and everyone of you and pray for you all because of your kindness.

Attention All Hunters

You will never ever see something like this during hunting season.
Not sure where this was taken, It was found on my Facebook page. Enjoy this.

Stressed Out Again

Now that Christmas is over and things have gotten back to normal, if there is such a thing. Enjoying family time tonight with just some minor family drama thought out the day, when we had a knock at the door. It was our apartment complex operations manager, handing me a letter stating that they want to evict us because we are behind in our rent. Well I have a meeting tomorrow (Wednesday) afternoon to go over their numbers. Two weeks ago we were closed to being caught up. Now they say we are not.

I reminded him of our talk two weeks ago, and he agreed to meet and go over the numbers. Well my family is freaking out. Got everyone calmed down, but I am stressed, but trying to stay relaxed. An option we have is we can file our taxes early Thursday of this week. I have all the information needed. I if can convince the complex to wait a little longer and work out some kind of deal on the back rent, and pay a month upfront that would give us much needed breathing room.

We are also giving my lawyer a call to see what the latest is. So Please pray for my family and I as we are going through this trying time still.  trying to use humor to keep myself upbeat. That is why the cartoon guy on top of posting. Oh I found this sign too below. If anyone wants to use it please by all means do. Thank God I am on medication for BP and depression. ;)

The Long, Long Depression

(I saw this story linked by http://www.survivalblog.com/
This is a true wake up call, our world is going down the same path that it has done before. If this holds true the whole world is in for a long haul. I pray that this does not happen.)

The markets were on a roll. New companies were being listed every few days. Germany had a new currency, and its mighty exporters were doing business around the world. Greece had merged its currency with that of France and Italy in a bold experiment in monetary union. A massive new continental economy was flooding the world with cheap goods, disrupting old industries. And new technologies were creating global markets, where money and information zipped from bourse to bank virtually instantaneously. Until the crash came, it seemed as if everyone would keep on getting richer and richer forever.
You could be forgiven for thinking that was a description of New York in 2008. Or London in 2000. Or Shanghai right now. But actually it is Vienna in 1873.

Note: I added this link to Wikipedia  this morning. This talks about the Great Depression of the 20th Century,
I like we are going in that direction once again. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Depression

First Post of 2012

This photo describes my mood for 2012. I have tried to be reasonable in 2011, but I didn't like it very much.
Now that it is a new year, and that in 3 months I will be 52, I feel its time to put my foot down on some issues at home and with some family. I have been walking on egg shells so to speak because of my blood pressure, but I feel I have been pushed around just a little to much. I have a high tolerance to bull dung, but only to a point.

I started this yesterday on the 1st, after reading what I wrote it came across as hot headed. So I deleted most of what I wrote. I love my family but some have issues with each other. I have one child that seems to stretch the truth a little too much for my liking. Another that wants to cut ties with a friend who can't make up his mind, but when this person get mad blows up and come back with an I'm sorry takes this friend back. I don't like drama.

I have spent the last couple of days reading entries of fellow bloggers. interesting to see what others have done. I am trying to figure out how to get my family more involved in prepping. I want them to know what's ahead for our country. Son #1 has a clue to world issues, Son #2 is more sheepish to the facts, Son #3 not sure where his head is at yet. He loves history. Daughter #1 has way to much drama in her life. She would freak out. She is like Son #2. Buried in tech. Needs cell to text friends, Facebooking, etc.

Daughter #2 is smart, she seems to know what happening to a point. I blame myself for not directing the children down a well informed path. So my goal for 2012 is to get my family more in-tuned with the world. We are going to be going through all of our boxes and totes to toss out anything/everything we gon't need or use any more.

I have 2 crashed computers I need to get serviced, 1 desk top, 1 laptop, and another laptop that needs to be serviced running but keyboard issues (dirty I think) mine needs battery replaced. I want to get another laptop for myself, and give mine now to wife. I am trying to find books and manuals downloaded or printed off, for reference.

I am going to work on some goals for this coming year. Hope to finish by weeks end and post. Have a good week everyone. Oh for the record 4,000 page views?? AM I that interesting?? I don't think so. :)
